"I'm so excited that my favourite restaurant / takeaway is open again and my mouth is watering cos I'm gonna order my Ackie and Saltfish tonight!

Once you try Mrs Brown's cooking you'll want more cos it is absolutely gorgeous. I have been eating from there for about 13 years now, so that speaks for itself. "

"For all those Caribbean Restaurant fans Mrs Brown will be back with the best Caribbean food in town! Refurbishment is practically complete and the restaurant will reopen on West Bute Street on Thursday 10th July. "

"Mrs Brown is an excellent host which compliments her cooking. I always look forward to my meal, weather eating in or a take away. I have spent a lot of my life in Jamaica, so when i get the chance make a visit to mrs brown, this brings back happy memories."

"Great news! I have just heard that restaurant will not be closing. It is by far one on the best places to eat in the area and I'm looking forward to many more visits.

If you haven't been yet, get your skates on!"

"As this is the only caribbean restaurant in cardiff...maybe wales, i'm very surprised it hasn't been reviewed until now!

i guess you could miss it given its location in a side street away from the hustle and bustle of the bay, but perhaps that's just one of the reasons i find this restaurant so appealing. when you walk into the restaurant and see others in there from all cultural backgrounds, its like you all discovered some wonderful little secret that only the 'chosen few' know about!

It's not decked out in fancy furnishings (feels like a cross between a cafe and a living room!), doesnt have expensive wine lists or cocktails, or dishes that end with jus or coulis, or fancy plates with small portions of stacked food and a sugar spun nest on the top!, but what it does do is good, honest, home-cooked caribbean food.

the foodie influence here is mainly jamaican, with the signature dishes of 'stew peas and rice' or 'saltfish and ackee' just two examples of typical jamaican fayre. my favourites are the saltfish fritters, lamb curry (caribbean curry is very different in taste to indian curries) with peas and rice, plantain (like a banana in taste but eaten as a vegetable) and tall glass of sorrel or a can of red stripe jamaican beer. however for anyone who has never tried caribbean food and dares to try something different to an indian or chinese, i can guarantee you won't be disappointed!

the service is always friendly and mrs brown (the owner) ALWAYS greets her customers with a beaming smile whether there to eat in or take away. go and discover this wonderful gem in the bay, but make sure you only tell your very best mates!!"
